Hi, I am Morgan, 15 years
and I started kiting 4 years ago in Cabarete, Dominican
Republic. My dad taught me.
I live on Hatteras Island, North Carolina
right across the street from one of the becats kiteboarding
locations in the world, Hatteras Island Sail Shop. It
is super easy, I just walk across the street, pump up
my kite with an air compressor, there is a huge grassy
field to lay out my lines, ect. and then there are miles
upon miles of solitary sound, and there is a rescue
jet ski if you get in trouble. The other great thing
about Hatteras is that if the wind blows from the opposite
direction you can always go kiting in the ocean, and
do insane downwinders, where you kite around condemed
houses, and around fishing peirs, and in tide pools,
it is alwyas an adventure. I also Kite in Cabarete which
is also super easy. My dad owns a resturant on the beach,
chichiguas, and we have a storage locker at mike's,
there is plenty of beach to lay our stuff out and, and
the set up is great, plenty of flat water for freestyle
tricks, and the reef, my favorite, for wave riding.
Not to mention there is always someone there to launch
or land you.
I competed in a lot of local competitions.
2 years ago I won a Red Bull qualifier and got free
air fare to Maui, to compete there. I've competed in
the PKRA event in Cabarete 3 times so far, and am planning
to compete again this year. I hope to do well in the
World cup, and when I go home to Hatteras I want to
win the Red Bull qualifier to go to Maui.
I think it is great what Kite chicks is doing. The reason
I like Kite Chick so much is because they are real.
The people who desgin the stuff actually kite board.
where as if you go and talk to the roxy people, they
have probablly never surfed in their life. How can people
that have never surfed or kitesurfed make clothing that
works best for that sport?
