Kiting is my passion
This is me, Faska Nouwen, 28 years old,
from The Netherlands. Kiting is my passion since August
2002. The picture was taken last Saturday 10 April 2004
at Vrouwenpolder, The Netherlands (a spot at the North Sea).
As you can see, it is still quite cold, the water temp is
about 10 degrees Celsius and air temp was 6.
But you see, even in The Netherlands (AND
EVEN AS A CHICK WHO IS ALWAYS COLD) you can in fact kite
year round, once you're past the beginners stage and not
constantly lying/dragging in the water.
Don't sit at home and
waste your time waiting for your boyfriend
I want to encourage the ladies in The Netherlands
who used to either stay at home when their dudes go out
or stay in the car with a long face. Start practising this
season! And of course the ladies who don't have a dude (yet).

Make new friends
Kiting is an extremely easy way to have
a good time and make new friends, and the bonus is: there's
a whole lot of guys out there who would love to learn some
of your tricks :-) !!!!
Get hooked in a safe
way - take lessons
Take lessons with a good school, buy some
basic secondhand equipment, and start practising! Know to
always be very careful, and that it's OK to be scared a
little (I know I was in the beginning, learning to kite
was very humbling and even intimidating for me). Just keep
going and before you know it YOU will be checking wind conditions
to plan the weekend kiting! I think it is very cool to be
kiting as a girl and you should be proud of who you are
and what you do.
